I have a child who is more than I ever hoped or dreamed of.
He has transformed me into a more patient, empathetic, understanding person.
He has transformed my husband into the most beautiful partner, showing me that sexiness in a man is not just intelligence but also his ability to be a father.
He made me realize how much I meant to my grandmother, who raised me and was both mother and father to me.
He brought my sister into my thoughts daily, and into more frequent calls and messages.
He cleaned up my friendships, but also gave me a new friend — who, in a way, gave me him.
He underlined how much I love my profession, and how I was truly made for it.
And How Much I Adore This New Ability to Be a Mother
I realize that no one “has to have a child.”
Truly, children are not band-aids.
They are not here to bring us a glass of water when we’re old.
They are not here to fix our pride, frustrations, or ego.
When It’s Worth It
The only reason I believe it’s worth having a child is if you truly want to raise a human being—
to build someone better than yourself: more capable, more independent, richer in skills and talent.
To offer them the love you wish you had received from your parents at crucial moments—
or, if you were lucky to receive it, the understanding, support, and honest, ego-free advice that would have helped you thrive and that you now want to pass on.
Only then does it feel worth it.
Otherwise…
Otherwise, having a child will be a disappointment.
It will make you unhappy and may create a little human who grows up without understanding why they became a slave to society,
struggling with sleep, unhappy no matter what they do, regardless of money.
Respect for Every Path
I know wonderful people who don’t have children and don’t want any—
and I truly believe they will remain wonderful, living life fully in the way they feel is right.
And Now… Back to Life
I wrote a lot, and I could have written even more—
but the day is starting, and I have so many hugs, kisses, and good thoughts waiting for me
that I no longer have the patience to ramble! 💛
Children aren’t band-aids or trophies. They’re a choice—to build someone better than ourselves, or not at all.
